— FOR DOOR MANUFACTURERS AND SHOPS

3D configurator
for doors
that open the home.

Someone changing the door of their house does it a handful of times in a lifetime and wants to get it right: the colour against their façade, the glazed side panel, the bar handle, the handing. The showroom has six doors on display and none of them is theirs, so they take a catalogue away and think about it. If they could see it on their own façade, they would not think about it for so long.

— WHAT HAPPENS TO YOU

Six doors
in the showroom.
None of them is theirs.

There are twenty minutes to closing when a couple walk into the showroom with a phone in their hand: they are refurbishing a two-storey house and show a photo of the façade, light stone and joinery in anthracite. They want a reinforced door, with a glazed side panel to bring light into the hall and a long bar handle instead of a knob. There are six doors on display in the room: two in oak, one white, one flush in silver grey, an armoured one in walnut and a pivot door that will not fit.

The sales assistant does what she can. She brings out the colour chart, puts the anthracite sample next to the routed door, looks through the catalogue for a photo with a side panel and explains with her hands the difference between three and five locking points. They ask about the fingerprint lock and about the insulation, because the house is going to be energy efficient. In the end they ask for the quote to be emailed: “We will look at it quietly at home”.

The quote goes out two days later: a PDF with a table, references and a price. Not a single image of the door with their façade. The couple compare it with another from a shop on the industrial estate, for a simpler door and quite a bit cheaper, and think about it for three weeks. When they finally confirm, nobody notes down whether the right handing was seen from outside or from inside. The door arrives with the hinges on the wrong side.

— WHERE THE SALE LEAKS AWAY

The bottlenecks
you will recognise
straight away.

“I cannot picture it on my façade”

The customer cannot picture the door on their house

The front door is the first thing you see of a house and it is bought only a few times in a lifetime. With a five-centimetre colour sample and a catalogue photo of a different model, the customer does not dare decide. They put it off, or choose the one they have already seen fitted.

What it costs youSales that go cold between the showroom and the email with the quote.

“And with the five-point lock and the 180 bar, how much would it be?”

A quote for every combination

Five designs, three security levels, three locks, seven colours, five handles, a side panel and a transom: the combinations multiply and each one has its price. Every “what if…?” from the customer is another calculation at the office and another day of waiting. By the third change, the customer has stopped asking.

What it costs youThe customer is left unsure and buys what they understand.

“The hinges were supposed to go on the other side”

Returns because of the wrong handing

Right handed — seen from outside or from inside? Every installer and every customer understands it their own way, and the order usually carries just a letter. A reinforced door made to the wrong handing cannot be fixed on site: it goes back to the factory, another one is made and the customer waits with the old door or a temporary closure.

What it costs youA security door made twice and a customer who will not recommend you.

“The one on the industrial estate is cheaper and it is reinforced too”

Comparing doors on price alone

“Reinforced” covers a simple sheet with three points and a five-point leaf with high insulation. In the brochure, both are called the same. If the customer cannot see what is inside each door, their only reference is the figure, and in that comparison the shop on the industrial estate always wins.

What it costs youYour door loses on exactly what makes it better.

“I have to talk about it at home”

The decision is made outside the shop

Very often, the person visiting the showroom does not decide alone. The decision is made at home, in front of the real opening, with someone who has not seen a single door fitted. The only thing that reaches that conversation is the PDF of the quote and whatever each of them remembers from the visit.

What it costs youThe decision is made at home, without your door in front of them.

— DO THE MATHS

What it costs you
today, with
your own numbers.

Think about the doors that get made twice because of a handing, a measurement or a colour written down wrong. The numbers are an example: put in your own.

The values are an example: replace them with yours. The calculation is a simple multiplication and does not come from any study.

Front door configurator open on a phone to place the door at real size on the customer's façade
Answers · The customer cannot picture the door on their house

They see it on their own façade with their phone

From the showroom or from home, with the QR code, the customer places the door at real size on their own façade in augmented reality, straight from the browser. They see the anthracite next to their stone, the glazed side panel and the 120-centimetre bar handle where they will really be.

Answers · A quote for every combination

Every “what if…?” has a price straight away

The sales assistant stops calling the office for every question. Design, leaf sizes, security, lock, digital viewer, colour, handle and insulation change in 3D and the indicative figure comes from your price list instantly: she tries the five-point and the motorised lock with the customer and gives them a figure on the spot.

The handing is seen, not interpreted

The handing is chosen looking at the door from the street, and the leaf opens in 3D to check which way it swings. It is written on the order sheet for the factory along with the leaf size, the side panel, the lock and the handle. There is no longer a lone letter that everyone reads their own way.

Reinforced against armoured, side by side

The couple stop comparing figures alone. They put up to three doors side by side and see what changes highlighted: security level, lock, indicative insulation and price. Over each door, a note explains what is inside. Against the one from the industrial estate, they know what they are paying more for.

They take the door home, not just the price

The customer takes away an image and the PDF with their configured door, and at home they can carry on trying colours or handles. If you have a network of shops, the request is assigned to the nearest showroom and reaches you with the handing, the overall opening and the security level already decided.

— FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What we
get asked.

There are more short answers in frequently asked questions about 3D configurators and who we are in 3D configurator company.

Can reinforced and armoured doors be configured?

Yes. The demo distinguishes standard, reinforced with a steel sheet and armoured, with a three or five-point lock or a motorised one with fingerprint, code or phone, and an optional digital viewer. In your version only your levels, the locks you fit and the combinations that leave your factory would remain.

How is the mistake with the door handing avoided?

The handing is chosen seen from outside, with the hinges drawn in 3D, and the door can be opened on screen to check which way it swings. That choice is written into the customer's PDF and into the order sheet for the factory, so everyone reads the same thing, from the customer to the installer.

Does it include glazed side panels and transoms?

Yes. A glazed side panel from 300 to 600 millimetres and a top transom can be added, and the configurator works out the overall structural opening with them. The customer sees the whole assembly and the opening they need before deciding.

What investment does a front door configurator involve?

Developments start from €6,500 for a visual configurator of one product family; most projects for manufacturers fall between €14,500 and €35,000, depending on the catalogue, the rules and the integrations, plus maintenance from €190 a month. With front doors, what counts most is the number of designs, colours and handles, the manufacturing rules between handing, side panels and transom, and whether you want an area for shops or a link to your ERP. In a 20-minute demo we look at your catalogue and give you a fixed scope.

Can our shops use it under their own brand?

Yes, with a distributor area. Each shop in your network signs in with their own user, sees their prices with their margin and shows the door with their own logo. At the factory, all the orders arrive the same: handing, leaf size, side panel and lock on your order sheet.

Does it work on the customer's phone?

Yes. From the showroom you send them a QR code and they take their door away on their phone, with nothing to download: they can turn it, open it, compare it with two other options and see it on their façade in augmented reality, from home, standing in front of the door they are going to change.
