Maintenance
of a 3D configurator
what it includes and what it does not.

A published configurator is not a PDF: it lives on a server, reads a price list that changes, opens in browsers that get updated and receives requests every day. Maintenance, from €190/month, covers keeping it published, updated and working, and lets you change the price list and the rules yourselves from the panel without programming. What is included, what is separate, how the subscription works and what happens if one day you stop it.

— WHAT IS INCLUDED

What is included
in maintenance.

Four things, all the ones needed for the configurator to keep selling without anyone watching it.

01 · HOSTING

Published and working

The configurator hosted on a server set up for 3D, with its own domain or inside your website, with backups and monitoring that it responds. If your website changes provider, the configurator stays where it is: it is embedded with one line of code.

02 · UPDATES

Browsers, phones and security

Browsers and phones change every few months; the 3D viewer, augmented reality and the form are kept working on the new versions, along with the server's security updates.

03 · PRICE LIST AND RULES, FROM THE PANEL

You change them yourselves, without programming

Raising a price, changing a discount, adding a finish with its photo, deactivating a series, adjusting a size limit: from the panel, with a template and with versioning. No charge per change and nobody to wait for. It is what most sets a bespoke configurator apart from a pay-per-use one.

04 · SUPPORT

Questions and small fixes

A question about the panel, a text to change, an alert email that does not arrive: handled within the fee. Anything that is a new development is priced separately, and you are told beforehand.

— WHAT IS SEPARATE

What is priced separately
and told beforehand.

Whatever changes what the configurator does, not what it shows.

— PRICED SEPARATELY
  • New outputs or connections: moving from the level with rules and price to the technical one with cutting lists, connecting the online shop or the management software, one more language. See integrating a 3D configurator with your ERP.
  • New families or products: the 3D modelling of each part and the true-to-life materials or finishes, at €30 to €120 per part or finish (or more). See 3D product modelling for a configurator.
  • New features: a comparator, a distributor area that was not there, a new document. They are valued by hours of work or with a fixed quote, separate from the fee.
— HOW TO TELL THEM APART
  • If it is done from the panel, it is included in the fee: prices, discounts, finishes, texts, limits, distributor sign-ups.
  • If it has to be programmed, it is a development: it is priced with its hours and its date before starting, never invoiced as a surprise.
  • If it is not clear, we ask and put it in writing before touching anything.
— THE SUBSCRIPTION

How the subscription works
and what happens if you stop it.

Annual, clear and without tying the configurator to the fee.

  1. 01

    It starts at go-live

The fee is charged from the moment the configurator is published on your website, not from the moment the proposal is signed. The exact fee goes in the proposal, depending on server, volume and what has to be maintained; from €190/month.

  2. 02

A minimum of one year, annual renewal

The hosting and maintenance subscription is annual: one year from go-live and then it renews by the year. To not renew, written notice three months in advance. It is paid month by month or the year in advance.

  3. 03

    Hours of work, separately

New developments are not mixed with the fee: they go by the hour or with a fixed quote, each with its own date. That way the fee does not go up because one month there was a lot to do, nor does it pay for work that was not done.

  4. 04

If you stop, the configurator is still yours

The bespoke development is yours, with the configurator files and the 3D models handed over. What maintenance covers (hosting, changes and extensions) stops being included, so it is put in writing how the hosting continues: on a server of yours or of whoever you choose. See who owns the configurator's code.

Paying to maintain something of yours is not the same as renting something that belongs to someone else.

— FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What we get asked
about maintenance.

There are more short answers in frequently asked questions about 3D configurators and who we are in 3D configurator company.

What does 3D configurator maintenance include?

Keeping it published, updated and working: hosting on a server set up for 3D with backups, updates for browsers, phones and security, the panel from which you change price list, rules and finishes without programming, and support for questions and small fixes. From €190/month; the exact fee goes in the proposal.

Does changing prices or adding a finish cost extra?

No. Everything done from the panel (prices, discounts, finishes with their photo, texts, limits, distributor sign-ups) is included in the fee, with a template and versioning. Anything that has to be programmed is priced separately and you are told beforehand.

What is separate from maintenance?

New outputs or connections (moving to the technical level with cutting lists, connecting the online shop or the management software, one more language), new families or products with their modelling and finishes, and new features. They are valued by hours of work or with a fixed quote, separate from the fee.

How does the subscription work?

Annual: a minimum of one year from go-live and then renewal by the year; to not renew, written notice three months in advance. The fee starts at go-live and is paid month by month or the year in advance.

Can we stop maintenance and keep using the configurator?

Yes: the bespoke development is yours and the configurator files and the 3D models are handed over. What maintenance covers (hosting, changes and extensions) stops being included, so it is put in writing how the hosting continues, on a server of yours or of whoever you choose.

How much does a configurator cost in total, with its maintenance?

Development starts from €6,500 for a visual configurator of one product family; most manufacturer projects fall between €14,500 and €35,000, depending on catalogue, rules and integrations, plus maintenance from €190/month.
