“Request your quote”
A form that collects a name, a phone number and “what you need”. The price is worked out by someone in the technical office two days later, if the customer has not asked someone else first. It does not quote: it asks.
An online quoting tool is not a form with the word “quote” on it: it is a tool that calculates the price of a made-to-measure product with your price list, applies your manufacturing rules and delivers a PDF to the customer and an order sheet to the factory. How it works, where the price comes from and what you receive, with examples from the demos.
Three things get called an “online quote” and only one actually quotes.
A form that collects a name, a phone number and “what you need”. The price is worked out by someone in the technical office two days later, if the customer has not asked someone else first. It does not quote: it asks.
Price per metre or per unit multiplied by a quantity. Fine for standard product; it does not know that a 2.4-metre sash is too heavy for that fitting or that transport to that area costs something different.
The customer chooses sizes, finishes and extras while seeing the product; the quoting tool applies your rules, calculates with your price list and delivers a PDF and an order sheet. It is what a 3D configurator with rules and price does.
From your price list, item by item. The quoting tool does not invent a price: it adds up what you say each thing costs, and shows it.
Per unit, metre, square metre or module. A railing is quoted by linear metres with the height; an enclosure, with glass per square metre, tracks and corners; a prefabricated module, by modules joined together; a sofa, by pieces and fabric. In the terrace enclosure demo the quote comes out by items: glass, tracks, corners, roof, extras and installation by area and floor.
Extras with their price. Motor, wind sensor, LED light, charger, engraved escutcheon, five-point lock: each extra switches on with a click, appears in the 3D with its label and adds what it adds. What is not shown does not sell; what is shown with a price gets decided.
Transport and installation by area. In the outdoor demo, the awning, the railing, the canopy and the bench add installation, and the prefabricated module adds transport and unloading. In the EV charger demo, the distance to the board adds metres of cable and protection devices. In your quoting tool, by area, by floor or by number of modules: whatever your price list says.
Discounts per distributor or by volume. Each distributor logs in with their user and sees their purchase price and their margin; the end customer sees the selling price. A hotel ordering twenty beds sees the volume discount on the order sheet. More in B2B configurator for distributors.
Indicative, and closed by you. The quoting tool gives an indicative price with your price list; the final price is given by your team after measuring or the technical study. What changes is that nobody goes out just to give a price any more: whoever calls has already chosen and knows roughly what it will cost.
A quote for something that does not fit or cannot be made is worse than no quote at all: it gets sold, the deposit gets paid and the problem shows up in the workshop.
A quoting tool is measured by what it delivers at the end, not by the price it shows halfway through.
With what they chose, as they saw it, and the indicative-quote note. In terrace enclosures, also the PDF for the residents' association; in pools, the project with the plan for the permit.
8 metres of railing at 1,000 mm come out with 7 laminated glass panels and 14 anchors on the order sheet; twelve benches with armrests, with 24 armrests and 12 anchoring kits. In your version, with your references.
The power supply for an LED strip, the lux for a room, the high-bays for a warehouse, a roof's solar production, a charger's charging time, pallet positions, the square metres of a floor with wastage.
Name, company, email, phone and what they configured, in a panel with its status, exportable to CSV and with an email alert. Assigned by area to the relevant sales rep or distributor.
If you sell through shops, merchants or installers, the quote they give is the one that sells. With the same quoting tool, each with their own terms.
Each distributor logs in with their user and sees the product with their conditions: their purchase price with their discount, their margin over the selling price and their documents with their brand. They quote with the customer in front of them, without calling the factory for a figure, and the order reaches you with your references and always in the same format.
The quoting tool is also embedded in each distributor's website with one line of code and with their code: whatever arrives from there is in their name. And the requests that come in through your website are assigned by area to the relevant sales rep or shop. In their private area, each one sees their requests, the selling price, what it costs them and what they keep.
For the factory, the change is that the order is no longer retyped: it comes out of the same configuration the customer saw, with every price line and every part counted.
Developments start from €6,500 for a visual configurator of one product family; most projects for manufacturers fall between €14,500 and €35,000, depending on the catalogue, the rules and the integrations, plus maintenance from €190 a month.
| Level | What it quotes | Guide price |
|---|---|---|
| Visual configurator | Shows the product with its sizes and finishes and lets the customer ask; no calculated price | from €6,500 |
| Quoting tool with rules and price | Instant price with your price list, rules, extras, areas, PDF, order sheet and distributor area | €14,500 – €25,000 |
| Integrated technical quoting tool | Cutting list and cut list, sector calculations, connection to the online shop or ERP | €25,000 – €35,000 |

A tool on your website with which the customer, the installer or the distributor chooses sizes, finishes and extras for a made-to-measure product and sees the price instantly, calculated with your price list and your manufacturing rules. At the end, a PDF for the customer and an order sheet with references and quantities for the factory come out.
It is an indicative price calculated with your price list; the final price is given by your team after measuring or the technical study. The difference from a form is that the customer arrives knowing what they want and roughly what it costs, and you receive the full configuration.
Yes. Installation by area or by floor, transport and unloading, crane and special transport when the product calls for it, and extras with their price: in your version it is calculated with your price list and your rules, for example by area or by number of modules.
You do, from the panel, without touching code. The price list and the rules live apart from the program, with a version: a change is tested first and then goes to the website, and all distributors quote with the same version.
Yes. Each distributor logs in with their user, sees their purchase price with their discount and their margin over the selling price, and presents the PDF with their brand if you want. The factory always receives the same order sheet, with your references.
Development starts from €6,500 for a visual configurator of one product family; most manufacturer projects fall between €14,500 and €35,000, depending on catalogue, rules and integrations, plus maintenance from €190/month. Separately, per product, 3D modelling and materials and finishes, at €30 to €120 per part or finish (or more).
