— FOR AIR CONDITIONING INSTALLERS

3D configurator
for air conditioning
made for installers.

As soon as the first heat arrives, dozens of “how much to put air conditioning in a 95 m² flat?” enquiries come in. Without rooms, orientation or insulation you cannot give a price, and every visit to measure is a technician's morning that may never turn into an installation.

— WHAT HAPPENS TO YOU

The first heatwave
fills the inbox
with “how much is it?”

It is the second week of June in an air conditioning company with eight technicians and a small office. The website form has received 46 enquiries in five days, and almost all say the same thing: “95 metre flat, four bedrooms, I want air conditioning, how much?”. None says whether the façade faces south, whether the flat has never been refurbished or whether there is a suspended ceiling for ducts. Without that, any figure given over the phone is a gamble.

The office manager returns calls between installations, writes details in a notebook and books visits. Every visit to measure and advise takes an hour and a half of a technician including travel, in exactly the weeks when the technicians should be installing. At the customer's home the same question always comes up: a split in each room, multi-split or ducted. The technician explains with their hands, draws on a piece of paper and leaves the customer thinking about it.

Two days later the quote arrives by email: a ducted unit, eight grilles, four dampers and four thermostats. The customer compares it with an online shop's ad selling a split installed at a fixed price and does not understand the difference. Nobody has told them how much it will consume per year or how much they save against the fifteen-year-old unit in their living room. They reply that they will think about it, and the summer keeps moving on.

— WHERE THE SALE LEAKS AWAY

The bottlenecks
you will recognise
straight away.

“I have a 95 metre flat, how much would it cost me?”

Quotes asked for with nothing but the square metres

The customer does not know what to tell you. They do not mention the climate zone, the orientation, the insulation or how many rooms they want conditioned, and without that the power cannot be calculated. Either you give a price off the top of your head that has to be corrected later, or you ask for a visit many are not willing to wait for.

What it costs youContacts that go cold while they wait for an answer.

“But how many BTUs do I actually need?”

Nobody knows what power they need

The private customer has heard about cooling capacity and thinks more is always better, or the other way round. They do not know that an unrefurbished flat with afternoon sun needs more power than a new build facing north. When they compare your unit with a smaller, cheaper one, it looks as if you are overselling.

What it costs youA properly calculated quote that loses to a badly sized one.

“Split or ducted? My brother-in-law says ducts are noisy.”

Split, multi-split or ducted: the same old doubt

It is the conversation that repeats at every visit. Explaining how the units look on the wall, where the grilles go or what zoning means without the customer seeing it is hard, and the decision gets postponed to “when we talk about it at home”. Often you have to go back and explain it again.

What it costs youVisits that end without a decision and have to be repeated.

“The online shop does it cheaper.”

Efficiency cannot be seen in a quote

An A+++ unit with Wi-Fi control and zoning costs more than a basic one, and on paper only the price difference shows. What the customer will pay in electricity every year, and what they save against their old unit, appears nowhere, so they decide on today's figure.

What it costs youA lost sale or a unit discounted to match a price.

“Can you come and measure this week?”

Technicians acting as sales reps

In peak season, every visit to take measurements takes hours away from installing. Many are from customers who only wanted a rough idea and will never go ahead, but finding that out means driving there. The diary fills up with journeys instead of jobs, and the installations already sold run late.

What it costs youJobs waiting in exactly the weeks when you sell most.

Air conditioning configurator screen with the type of space, the area in m² and the number of rooms
Answers · Quotes asked for with nothing but the square metres

You know what the home is like before returning the call

Type of space, area, rooms, climate zone, insulation and orientation: the customer enters them in three steps, almost without noticing. The office receives the request with those details, the system they are interested in and the indicative price they already know. With contacts assigned by area, each request goes straight to whoever works there.

Answers · Nobody knows what power they need

They understand why they need that power

From the square metres, the zone, the insulation and the orientation come the power needed in kW and in cooling capacity, the power per room and the matching units. If they change from normal to poor insulation, they see it go up. The calculation is indicative and is confirmed by your visit.

They see the systems installed and compare them

The customer sees how each system looks installed in a typical floor plan, with the units and the grilles in place. They can compare up to three options side by side, with the differences highlighted and their indicative price, and show it to their family on a phone that same evening.

The yearly saving, in euros, next to the price

Every configuration shows the approximate yearly consumption and the saving against an old unit. Going from A++ to A+++, the customer sees what changes in consumption and in price, and decides with that figure in front of them, not just the quote total.

Visits, for the people who are really going to install

Whoever only wanted a rough idea gets it without anyone driving anywhere. Whoever asks for a visit arrives having chosen a system and with the PDF of their configuration, so the technician goes to confirm measurements and runs, not to explain from scratch.

— FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What we
get asked.

There are more short answers in frequently asked questions about 3D configurators and who we are in 3D configurator company.

What does the 3D air conditioning configurator work out?

From the type of space, the area, the rooms, the climate zone, the insulation and the orientation it works out the power needed in kW and in cooling capacity, the power per room, the matching units, the approximate yearly consumption and the saving against an old unit. It also gives an indicative price and a sheet with the units and accessories.

Does the power calculation replace the technical visit?

No. The result is indicative and says so in the configuration itself: the visit still confirms measurements, runs and installation details. What changes is that the customer arrives at that visit knowing which system they want and with a price range in mind, and that enquiries from people who were only curious no longer take up a morning.

Does it work for offices and commercial premises too?

Yes. In the demo the customer chooses between home, office or commercial premises, with areas from 30 to 400 m² and up to eight rooms. They can pick a split per room, multi-split or ducted, A++ or A+++ efficiency, Wi-Fi control, an air purifying filter and zoning by room.

Can we show only the units we install?

Yes. The demo uses generic units, but your version works with your range, your power ratings and your price list, including accessories such as grilles, dampers or thermostats. If you want to offer only certain systems in certain spaces, we set that in the rules so the customer cannot ask for something you do not fit.

What happens with requests from outside our area?

You can assign contacts by area, so each request reaches the technician, the branch or the partner who works there. That way the office does not have to share them out by hand or return calls to customers you cannot serve, and each one receives the customer's full configuration.

How much does a bespoke air conditioning configurator cost?

It depends on the systems and types of space you want to show, your calculation rules, your price list and whether it has to be connected to your ERP or CRM. We pin it down in a short call, using one of the last enquiries you received as an example. Reference price for the development: developments start from €6,500 for a visual configurator of one product family; most projects for manufacturers fall between €14,500 and €35,000, depending on the catalogue, the rules and the integrations, plus maintenance from €190 a month.
