— FOR MANUFACTURERS AND DISTRIBUTORS OF DECORATIVE BOARD

Board decors
in a 3D configurator
for kitchens and wardrobes.

The board manufacturer supplies the colours of countless kitchens and wardrobes, yet is hardly ever there when the customer chooses them. Here your decor chart, loaded from an Excel file, sits inside the 3D configurator where the customer designs their kitchen: they apply it to fronts, wall units, island or worktop, request samples, and the workshop receives the reference and the edging.

— WHAT HAPPENS TO YOU

A swatch book of chips,
a kitchen on the screen
and two worlds that never meet.

In the kitchen shop, the customer has two things in front of her: on the screen, her kitchen in 3D with the fronts in a generic white; on the table, a swatch book of five-centimetre decor chips. She likes a synchronised-pore oak and a sage green. She asks how the two would look together. The salesperson searches for something similar in the software's list of finishes, which has neither that oak nor that green.

At the board factory, that chart was renewed in spring: new woods, super-matt solid colours and a couple of stones. Swatch books were sent to distributors and a PDF to the kitchen manufacturers. But the configurators where customers design their kitchens still carry the colours from three years ago, because updating them depends on a programmer nobody has called.

The customer ends up choosing the usual white, because it is the only thing she has seen in place. The synchronised-pore oak stays in the swatch book. And nobody at the board factory will ever know it came that close to going into that kitchen.

— WHERE THE SALE LEAKS AWAY

The bottlenecks
you will recognise
straight away.

“That oak isn't in the software.”

Your decors are not where the kitchen is designed

The end customer picks the colours in the configurator or design software of the kitchen manufacturer or the workshop. If your decor is not in there, it does not exist for them, however present it is in the shop's swatch book.

What it costs youNew decors that never get chosen because nobody sees them in place.

“We'll load the new chart when we get a chance.”

Updating the chart depends on a programmer

Every season brings new decors and retires others. Getting them into your customers' configurators means photos, codes, edgings and uses that someone has to load by hand, in every tool and on every website. Meanwhile, the same old ones keep selling.

What it costs youCharts out of date for months on your customers' websites.

“And how does the oak look below with the green above?”

Combinations are left to the imagination

Base units in one decor, wall units in another, the island in a third and a matching worktop: combinations are what sell most and what loose chips can show least. The customer hesitates and goes back to all-white.

What it costs youProjects that stay at the most neutral option, with less value.

“Could you send me some samples?”

Samples leave no trace

Sample requests reach the distributor or the workshop by phone, without knowing which kitchen the customer was designing or which combination they wanted. The board factory never finds out which decors are of interest, or to whom.

What it costs youEnd-customer interest that never reaches the company that makes the decor.

“Which edging did that front have?”

The workshop receives colours, not references

What reaches the workshop from the design is “light oak” or “green”, not the decor reference or its matching ABS edging. Someone has to translate it, and a wrong edging or a similar-but-different decor is only discovered during assembly.

What it costs youParts cut twice and edgings that do not match.

The board decor library with families, filters and the data sheet of a walnut in the 3D kitchen configurator
Answers · Your decors are not where the kitchen is designed

Your chart, inside the kitchen configurator

The decor library appears in the made-to-measure kitchen, wardrobe and furniture configurator: families, search, filters by texture, range and use, and a data sheet for each decor with its large texture, reference, thicknesses, uses and matching edging. It is the same configurator the kitchen manufacturer or the workshop uses with their customers.

Answers · Updating the chart depends on a programmer

The chart is loaded from an Excel file

The chart is uploaded as is from an Excel file, using a template: reference, name, family, pattern type, colours, texture, range, thicknesses, uses, matching ABS edging and whether it exists as a worktop. The dashboard reads the Excel or a CSV, shows a preview and saves it. With no programming, the new chart is in all three products of the configurator.

Every decor, applied to the kitchen on the spot

From the data sheet, the customer applies the decor to the base-unit fronts, the wall units and tall units, the island, the interior and side panels or the worktop, or to the whole piece at once, and sees it in their kitchen in 3D. Suggested combinations (light Nordic, sage and oak, night, earth) apply a complete set with one click.

Every “request a sample” is a contact with a name

The customer ticks the decors they want to receive and the request reaches the manufacturer's dashboard (and, if enabled, their inbox) with the references, the product they were designing and their contact details. The decor chart also has its own public page, from which each decor opens directly in a kitchen, a wardrobe or a piece of furniture.

Workshop sheet with the reference and the edging

The workshop sheet and the cutting list come out with the decor reference of each part and its matching ABS edging, so the workshop does not have to translate “light oak” into a reference. And the library works the same way in wardrobes and walk-in closets and in made-to-measure furniture.

— FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What we
get asked.

Do we need programming to load our chart?

No. You fill in the Excel template (or use a CSV) with the reference, family, range, uses and edging of each decor, and the dashboard loads it with a preview. It can be edited decor by decor and exported again.

Are our decor photos shown?

Yes. In the demo the textures are generated from each decor's pattern type and colours; with the photos of your decors the real ones are shown, with their grain and their scale.

Where do sample requests go?

To the manufacturer's dashboard and, if the email alert is enabled, to their inbox as well, with the chosen references, the product the customer was designing and their contact details, for follow-up.

Does it work for wardrobes, walk-in closets and bathroom furniture?

Yes. The library works in all three products of the configurator: kitchens, wardrobes and walk-in closets, and made-to-measure furniture, with the zones of each one (fronts, interior, side panels, worktop).

Can it be added to the configurator of a kitchen manufacturer that already works with us?

Yes. It is a module of Grup3D's kitchen, wardrobe and furniture configurator: it can be added to a kitchen manufacturer's configurator, which will then carry your up-to-date chart inside their tool, and, if agreed, send the sample requests to your inbox as well.

How much does it cost?

It depends on whether it is added to an existing configurator or comes with a new one, and on how many decors and connections you need. Projects start from €6,500 for a visual configurator of one product family; most projects for manufacturers fall between €14,500 and €35,000, depending on catalogue, rules and integrations, plus maintenance from €190/month. Preparing the textures of your decors is quoted separately, once we see your files.
