3D plastic tank configurator with a 3,000 litre translucent vertical tank next to a person for scale

— FOR TANK AND CONTAINER MANUFACTURERS

3D configurator
for plastic
tanks.

Your distributors call you to ask the same things over and over: what external dimensions the 3,000 litre one has, whether it goes through a warehouse door, whether the diesel one needs a bund. Every order is taken over the phone, written down by hand and confirmed with another call.

— WHAT HAPPENS TO YOU

The farmer measures
the warehouse door
with a tape measure

At the counter of an agricultural cooperative, a farmer asks about two tanks: one of 3,000 litres for irrigation water and a smaller one for the tractor's diesel. He wants to know whether the big one goes through his warehouse door, which he measured that morning with a tape measure: 1.40 metres wide. The counter staff have a catalogue with capacities, but not the external dimensions of every model, so they pick up the phone and call the manufacturer.

At the factory, the person who looks after distributors takes that call among many like it. They find the data sheet for the 3,000 litre vertical and give the diameter and the height. The counter staff also ask whether the diesel one needs a retention bund, what manway it has and whether it can be ordered in green so it does not stand out on the farm. It all gets written down by hand and confirmed the next day by email, along with six other references the cooperative takes the chance to restock.

In the end the order arrives: two tanks, a tap and an overflow. Nobody has asked about the level gauge or the anti-UV additive for the one that will be in the sun all year. A week later, another distributor orders 40 units with their customer's logo and the same exchange of emails has to be repeated to clarify colour, manway and marking. Manufacturing is not the problem; what jams is everything that happens before.

— WHERE THE SALE LEAKS AWAY

The bottlenecks
you will recognise
straight away.

“Will this fit through the door?”

Nobody knows how much space a tank takes

Tanks are sold by litres, but installed by dimensions. The end customer does not know whether the 3,000 litre one fits in their shed, under their roof or through their door, and the distributor does not have all the external dimensions to hand either. The question always ends up on your phone.

What it costs youOrders held up by a figure that should be in plain view.

“For diesel, is anything else needed?”

The bund that never gets offered

Water, diesel, chemicals or food use call for different accessories, and the retention bund is the one that raises most doubts at the counter. If the distributor does not offer it where it is needed, the end customer finds out later, with the tank already installed and full.

What it costs youA problem for your customer and an accessory sale lost.

“I am calling for the usual order.”

Repetitive phone orders

Every distributor orders by phone or email: capacity, colour, manway, tap, quantity. Someone writes it down, keys it into the system and confirms it. They are simple orders that take hours of office time every week, and where a 400 manway written down as a 600 is discovered when the lorry is being loaded.

What it costs youAdmin hours and mistakes that travel all the way to delivery.

“Do you not have it in black?”

Colours and finishes that have to be described

Translucent natural, black, green or blue; a 400 or 600 manway; with or without a level gauge. Over the phone it gets described, but the end customer cannot picture it on their farm or in their warehouse, and the distributor has to call back every time they change their mind.

What it costs youExtra calls and decisions that get delayed.

“My customer wants them with their logo.”

Orders with marking that get complicated

When a distributor orders 40 or 100 units with their customer's logo, the tank colour, the manway, the accessories and the marking of the whole batch have to be settled. Without a configuration you can both see the same way, the order goes back and forth by email several times before it goes into production.

What it costs youLarge orders that take a long time to reach the production line.

Vertical translucent polyethylene tank in 3D with a manway, outlet tap and a person for scale beside it
Answers · Nobody knows how much space a tank takes

They see how much space it takes, next to a person

When the type and capacity are chosen, the external dimensions and the empty weight appear, and the tank is seen in 3D next to a person for scale. From a phone, in augmented reality, the farmer sees it at real size inside their warehouse before ordering it.

Answers · The bund that never gets offered

The bund appears where it is needed

Depending on what it will hold — water, diesel, chemicals or food use — the configurator offers the retention bund and the matching accessories. Your rules decide what is proposed for each use, and the customer sees it fitted with its indicative price.

The distributor places the order without calling you and with everything clear

Type, capacity, use, colour, manway, accessories, marking and quantity on a single screen. Out comes an order sheet with references and quantities that goes straight into the factory or into your ERP. Each distributor can have their own area with their margin and their brand.

They change colour and manway and see it instantly

The customer goes from translucent to green, changes the manway and raises the liquid level, and sees it instantly in 3D. If they are unsure, they put two or three versions side by side with their differences highlighted, and the distributor sends them the image or the PDF without calling you.

Large orders with a logo, in a single configuration

The distributor enters the quantity, from 1 to 200, switches on the logo marking and chooses the accessories for the whole batch. You receive one single configuration you have both seen the same way, instead of an email thread that has to be pieced together.

— FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What we
get asked.

There are more short answers in frequently asked questions about 3D configurators and who we are in 3D configurator company.

What is a 3D plastic tank configurator?

A page, on your website or on each distributor's, where the type, capacity, use, colour, manway and accessories are chosen: tap, level gauge, anti-UV additive, bund, overflow or logo marking. The tank appears in 3D with its external dimensions and an indicative price, and the order sheet reaches you directly, without going through the phone.

Does it give the external dimensions of each tank?

Yes. When the type and capacity are chosen, the external dimensions, the material and the approximate empty weight appear, and the tank is seen next to a person for scale. In your version those dimensions come from your real data sheets, so the distributor can answer “will it fit?” without calling you.

How does it handle the retention bund according to what it will hold?

The customer says whether the tank is for water, diesel, chemicals or food use, and the configurator offers the bund and the accessories you have defined for that use. The specific requirements of each installation depend on the regulations that apply in each case; the configurator shows whatever your rules say.

Does it work for horizontal tanks and IBC containers too?

Yes. The demo includes vertical and horizontal tanks and 1,000 litre IBC containers, with capacities from 100 to 20,000 litres. Your version works with your real formats and capacities; the combinations you do not make simply do not appear, so nobody can order a tank that does not exist.

Can our distributors place orders from the configurator?

Yes. From the counter or from a phone, the distributor configures with their customer in front of them, sees their own prices and their logo on screen and sends you the order sheet with references, accessories and quantities. If we also connect it to your ERP, the order goes into the factory without passing through admin.

How much does a plastic tank configurator cost?

It goes up or down depending on the formats and capacities, the rules per use, your prices, whether distributors will have their own area and whether the order has to go into your ERP or CRM. Send us the catalogue and, after a 20-minute call to review it, we come back with a fixed figure. As a reference for the bespoke development: developments start from €6,500 for a visual configurator of one product family; most projects for manufacturers fall between €14,500 and €35,000, depending on the catalogue, the rules and the integrations, plus maintenance from €190 a month.
